My kids LOVE the water.

Tonight we AMAZINGLY had nothing on our hectic schedule. Chandler was at Granny and Papa's house so we decided to run out to the river for a sunset cruise. We just missed the sunset, but had a great cruise down the river. Cheney even took over the wheel for me so that Lisa and I could "cuddle" up in front of the boat. He did a great job chauffeuring us down the river all the while saying "ewww, stop that". haha

It's coming along pretty slowly but I haven't had much time to work on it. The floor is finished and the porch is finished. I have one wall up and will do the other walls and trap door in the coming days. We had some leftover Eucalyptus wood from a job we did in the Bahamas, so I used that for the porch pickets. I'll try to get some better detail pics as things progress.

I was hoping to get some MAJOR work done on the treehouse today, but it's been raining most of the day. We did get to play our baseball game though and Cheney did awesome as usual. Check back soon for more details and pics.
No, the following picture is not of Cheney and Chandlers treehouse. It is however what I am modeling theirs after...............kinda.
Lisa, Don't be too scared.

Some people have said "It's over the top."
Some people have said "Not in MY backyard."
Some people have said "Sweet"
Some people have said nothing, just shaken their head.
I say....."I am man and it IS over the top and it is in MY backyard for MY kid and I think it's SWEET too!"
Although, as I'm writing this, I too am shaking my head, because maybe it is a little extreme........NAH!
Check back soon.

Cheney has been asking me for a couple of years to build a tree house. Well we decided it was about time so I started gathering some wood and a telephone pole. We have the PERFECT live oak tree in our backyard for a treehouse. Cheney and I talked about it and looked at the tree and climbed up it a few times to get a feel for the "layout" of the treehouse. Not giving away anything until the unveiling, I'll give you some details of what Cheney said he wanted for a finished project. He said it definitely had to have some stairs, windows, doors, a tv, and maybe some shelves and a refrigerator. What? A tv? A refrigerator? Sure why not. Maybe some day. Wait, did I say TELEPHONE POLE? Yes, I did. Well it's not a full blown 35 foot type of telephone pole. This one is only 20 foot long (I cut it off). Mom is not real keen on the idea of a treehouse so I figured I better beef up the supports on the treehouse to make it super safe. Besides, the telephone pole will support the Zip Line. Anywho, this is a picture of the perfect tree that will house the treehouse.

Summer is (almost) here and it's evident out at Lake Breeze Ski Lodge. Lisa and I decided to take the kids and the In-laws out to "The Lodge" and have dinner out on the patio by the lake. I spent most summers out at the Lodge. No really, when I say most summers, I mean from the day after school was out until the week before school started my sister and I were out at the Lodge either hanging out with our friends or working there just about every day. This started when I was in about 8th grade and continued until my senior year in high school. The place hasn't changed much over the years except for the addition of a great playscape that the kiddos love. You will almost always run into somebody you know there. Cheney's school counselor and her husband were enjoying an evening out on the patio as well and he just had to go say hi.
This was the view we had tonight overlooking the lake.

Yes, it's that time of year again. I really figured we just got lucky last year with our abundance of tomatoes. Looks like my tomato thumb really is green. Or it might just be the well fertilized "corn dirt" that came from the field behind my office. Who knows. We harvested the first of our "crop" this afternoon. 25 tomatoes and 2 carrots were the first pickins'.
It's amazing how fast the tomato plants shot up after the rain we had a couple weeks ago. I would say that they grew over one foot in one week.
If it wasn't for our nice squirrels who like to steal tomatoes and eat them on the driveway I would have never known these were ripe already. They were hidden way in the center of the bush and out of plain sight. Thanks to the squirrel for giving them away!
As usual we planted several Jalapeno plants too. We love hot stuff here in our house.
Here are the carrots. This is the first time we have planted carrots and they are doing pretty good. Looks like we'll have a couple dozen or so.
And here is what we LOVE the most that comes out of the garden.
I told Lisa we should set up the kids at the entrance to the neighborhood and sell some of our cherry tomatoes this year. Last year, when I stopped counting, we had harvested over 1300 tomatoes (about 40 pounds)!!! I figure they could sell them for a couple bucks per pound. That would make some good "toy" money for them.

Meet Kenny Chesney. He's a great singer and performer.
Meet Billy. He's a great singer (in the shower) and performer (more clown-like than anything else).
Meet Miranda Lambert. She's a great singer and performer.
Meet Lisa. She's a great singer and performer too.
Seriously, what is the big deal with Kenny and Miranda??? For almost a month Lisa and I have been bantering back and forth about Friday's concert. She talks about how cute he is and blah, blah, blah. I talk about how pretty Miranda is and blah, blah, blah. She has been a fan of (in love with) Kenny for a long time. We even had a good friend of ours sing one of his greatest hits "Me And You" at our wedding. I do agree that he's a great singer and performer. But seriously people, he's 5 foot something/nothing and balding. I do have to give his tech crew and costume advisor credit though. Put a black cowboy hat on his head and you'd never no he was folically challenged and put a 16' jumbotron behind him on stage and he looks as though he's 6'2" tall. Oh well, i concede.
Now of course I have been a fan of Miranda ever since I got to see the filming of one of her videos in Luling several years ago. She too is a great singer and performer and is not bad on the eyes either.
So heres my beef....................
Comparing the pictures above, Lisa and I COULD be as great as Kenny and Miranda are. We just need to be "discovered". Well, and I need singing lessons, and a tan, and bigger biceps, and lots of other stuff too probably. Oh well.
Lisa doesn't need a thing.
I'm a lucky guy!
